Chris French is a leader in sustainable planning and architecture in the Washington, DC area. He has given presentations on sustainable practice at conferences, businesses, universities and government agencies. Active in the development of and advocacy for sustainable technology, he has been involved in HUD’s partnership for advancing technology in housing (PATH), and led the design of a PATH concept home in 2004. As chair of the DC chapter AIA’s committee on the environment, he presided over an increase in active participation, launched the annual fundraising campaign, and shepherded the development of house of cards, the educational game that teaches children (and their parents) about sustainable design. Chris served on the board of directors for the Washington, DC chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the 2005 and 2006 terms, and held the office of secretary in 2006. He served on the DC council’s task force for the green building act, helping to shape legislation that became one of the most proactive green building laws in the us.
Chris is a graduate of Virginia Tech and a leed-accredited architect licensed in DC, Virginia and Maryland. The DC council of engineering and architectural societies (DCCEAS) selected Chris as DC’s young architect of the year for 2004.
